The Red Dragon is a ship in trouble. It was once the pride of the Outer Spiral Trading Company’s fleet, but is neglected and fallen from its old glory. It’s a ship in need of love – and a new captain.

Alyn Evans is a man in need of a new challenge. He’s an ex-warship captain and peace has put him out of a job. A man of his experience should have no trouble commanding a merchant ship…he thinks. But of all the challenges he faces on his first trip out, the hardest one is keeping his hands off his gorgeous and fascinating company rep, Jarvez Kashari.

Jarvez Kashari is a man with a plan. He’s determined to make a name as the company’s best trader and thinks reviving the fortunes of the Red Dragon is the perfect opportunity to prove himself. Jarvez travels light, sacrificing personal relationships to focus on his ambitions – until he meets Alyn Evans. Falling in love was not part of the plan.

It’s four months to Earth. Four months for Alyn to juggle passengers, prisoners, suspicious officers, a resentful crew and the intensifying relationship with Jarvez. Four months in space with a traitor aboard…

♥My Thoughts♥

The blurb of this book sounded interesting. A romance in space? To a sci fi fan, this sounded perfect. Drama, action and romance in a setting I loved was definitely a must read for me. I was pulled in right from page one. Both Alyn and Jarvez  are ambitious men in their way, and each of them sets out for one night of passion before they take on their latest assignments. Their one night stand was passionate but over too quickly for Alyn. They didn't expect however, that their assignments were one and the same, and neither is quite sure how to handle their attraction to one another once the Red Dragon is underway.

Alyn: I liked his sense of honour and integrity. I think every starship captain needs that. Blame it on growing up on too many Star Trek spin offs. Alyn fit that bill perfectly. He was always thinking, planning on how to get the crew of the Red Dragon to be a cohesive unit again. I like that he was fair, and his determination to help save the Red Dragon was admirable. I also liked that he didn't play games with Jarvez. He kept things professional until he couldn't keep things professional anymore, and when that happened, he met it head on without any drama or denial. Or, at least very little denial.

Jarvez: He definitely had the bigger denial problem. He really didn't want to get emotionally involved with Alyn. He just found he couldn't keep his hands to himself on the Red Dragon, and he wasn't very happy that he couldn't. He thought their shore leave would be a great way for both of them to get each other of their systems, and I have to say, those bedroom scenes were a bit more telling about their feelings for one another than the previous ones had been. For me, the story really started pick up while they on shore leave on New Vegas. It's after this that they both admit they can't carry on pretending that they don't want one another. I think the thing I like most about Jarvez was his contradictions. He's surly at times, but he's sweet, which I liked. And he has total faith in Alyn which I also liked--very romantic in it's way.

The novel has a bit of excitement at the end when the co-conspirator is revealed, and during these scenes I again saw how much Alyn and Jarvez meant to one another.  Alyn and Jarvez plan on a future together, and the story of the Red Dragon and its crew will clearly be continuing.I would have liked the romance to have a been bit more raw, emotionally speaking. I like to really see how the characters are feeling as I'm reading. But I'm invested enough in the story line and characters to continue with the series.  All in all, a solid story line and romance. I would like to thank Loose-Id for providing me with a copy of the novel in exchange for an honest review.
